SHOEBILL
ISLAND CAMP
- Bengweulu Floodplains
With panoramic views over the swamps,
Shoebill Island Camp takes its name from the breed of storks
that can usually be seen nearby.

The camp offers accommodation in safari tents
under thatch roofs and in reed cottages. Each has two beds,
an en suite shower and flush toilet.
Shoebill Island is intended mainly for the international
guests but also welcomes local or regional visitors. There
is a campsite nearby for those traveling on a tighter
budget.

Boating can be arranged in banana boats or dug out canoes.
March and April offer an amazing water wilderness for the
adventurous.
The
main season is from May to August, while September to
November offers great birding, but perhaps no Shoebill
sightings.
Shoebill Camp is
managed by the Kasanka Trust. Visitors can be taken on to
Shoebill from Kasanka by road or charter flight.
Arrangements can be made for research groups.
