OLD
MONDORO
- Lower Zambezi National Park

Old
Mondoro is a superior safari lodge set in a grove of acacia
trees on the banks of the Zambezi river inside the Lower
Zambezi National Park.
The
lodge overlooks a maze of hippo inhabited islands and
channels. This area of the Park is characterized by vast
flood plains and open woodland that make it ideal for
walking and game viewing.
Old
Mondoro aims to take a step back from the ultra-luxurious
lodges and provide an authentic and remote safari that
focuses on the wildlife and the bush experience.
Accommodating
only eight guests and of traditional design, Old Mondoro is
reminiscent of the mobile camps of East Africa, rebuilt from
scratch and then dismantled each
season.
The
“tents”, resting on temporary slabs, have ensuite facilities
with flush toilets and canvas bucket showers and washbasins.
Parafin lanterns provide ambient lighting.
Furniture
is simple. All tents have outstanding river views. The main
tent serves as a lounge and dining area.
A
traditional bush
kitchen supplies outstanding meals and fresh bread. There
are some excellent walking areas right out of camp and
others just a short drive away.
