CHIAWA CAMP
- Lower Zambezi National Park

The
pioneering Cumings family opened Chiawa Camp in 1989 – the
first safari camp inside the Lower Zambezi National Park and
is still one of the best in the region, with a reputation
for superb guiding and services and voted as “one of
Africa’s top ten safari camps”.
The
camp has eight spacious, well ventilated safari tents, each
set on its own elevated wooden platform under shady trees
and with a panoramic view of the Zambezi.
All
tents have ensuite hot and cold showers and toilets. There
is a charming thatched lounge and bar area plus a dining
room with a veranda offering views of the river and
wildlife. Guests can take a refreshing dip in the plunge
pool.
For
honeymoons and special occasions, Chiawa’s Superior Safari
Tent sets new standards in bush luxury, with a king sized
bed and superb bathroom.
The
piece de resistance is an outdoor tree shower
overlooking the Zambezi.

Chiawa’s chefs take pride in their excellent cuisine which
includes bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and romantic
moonlit dinners on an island in the river
